Inspiration is everywhere in this one-of-a-kind Acting Lab! Each week, students will sharpen their improvisation skills through group warm-ups. Next, they’ll be given a brand-new, creative prompt—such as a haunting photograph, a striking piece of music, a bizarre costume piece, a historical artifact, or a strange headline. Working collaboratively in small groups, students will devise unique scenes from scratch. They’ll learn to say "Yes, and..." to their peers' ideas, build high-stakes dramatic tension, and develop complex characters. By stepping out of the bounds of pre-written scripts, young actors will unlock their own creative voices and gain confidence in their storytelling abilities. Families will be invited to an Open Studio Presentation on the final day of class.  

Whether it’s your first time singing and dancing or you’re ready for a tune-up, this class will give you a little bit of everything. Using upbeat animal songs from Disney shows (The Lion King, Jungle Book, Moana), we’ll work on storytelling through singing and use easy-to-follow choreography to build dynamic performances. Families will be invited to an Open Studio Presentation on the final day of class.  

This advanced class, led by Education Director Stephanie Temple, will challenge you to take creative risks and master the art of parody! Actors will tackle Bad Dracula, a hilariously terrible script of Bram Stoker's classic horror story. How many things can go wrong in a play that’s meant to be terrifying? We’re about to find out! Between the rubber bats, malfunctioning costumes, and bad accents, our acting troupe will try its best to stay in character. If you like The Play That Goes Wrong and Noises Off, you’ll love this project. 

Get ready to create! In this high-energy acting lab, students will explore expressive characters and build imaginary worlds to inhabit. At NCTC, we know collaboration is the name of the game. Welcome to Costume Crafts, a hands-on workshop for creative kids who love to build, design, and play dress-up! From superhero capes and whimsical fairy wings to alien masks and royal crowns, we will dive headfirst into bins of colorful fabric, foam sheets, recycled materials, yarn, and paper crafts. There are no patterns here—we let our imaginations run completely wild! Your child will come home each week with a unique, handmade wearable masterpiece and the confidence to say, "I made that myself!"

In this dynamic, hands-on acting class, teen performers will collaborate on a 20-minute mini-play—complete with costume pieces, props, and a final performance on a professional stage for family and friends. Students will dive deep into character development, sharpen their script and memorization skills, and discover what it really takes to build a performance from the ground up. Along the way, you’ll learn how to take direction, support your ensemble, and experience the thrill of creating theatre as a team.

In this immersive class, students will create a 20-minute mini-play—complete with costume pieces, props, and a final performance on a professional stage for family and friends. Here’s your chance to work together on a story, develop your character from start to finish, and learn what it takes to build a performance from page to stage. This is a great way to learn how to work with scripts, take direction, memorize lines, and bond with your fellow actors over the thrill of performance!

In this hands-on class, students will learn the fundamentals of stage makeup while exploring a range of exciting theatrical looks. From fantastical fairies and classic mimes to creepy monsters and realistic wounds, each week brings a new challenge. All makeup and supplies are included—just bring your imagination.
