Welcome to Busy Bee Academy where team leaders Buzz and Honey are here to help new recruits be the best they can BEE! We’ll connect our hive minds to find the best ways to take care of ourselves and our community. Using music and audience participation, we’ll explore eating smart, staying active, and managing emotions. A healthy hive also helps us BEE kind by celebrating differences and making friends. If we work together, the whole group can thrive!

Amaris Griggs

“Honey”
Amaris Griggs is thrilled to make her debut at NCTC Theater with the Youth Aware Program! After a four-year hiatus from theater, she is overjoyed to return to the stage. Amaris has previously performed in Peter Pan (Tiger Lily), American Idiot (Whatshername), and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Pseudolus). Passionate about storytelling, she loves bringing characters to life in ways that resonate with audiences and is grateful for this opportunity to do so alongside such a talented cast and crew!

Rebs Chan

“Buzz”
Rebs Chan (張麗珠) is a multidisciplinary theatre artist. Current In Dialogue Coordinator at Berkeley Rep, Artistic Associate at Center REP, and Head of Dramaturgy and Audience Engagement at Bay Area Independent Chinese Dancers. Former Peter F. Sloss Artistic Fellow at Berkeley Rep and English Teaching Assistant through Fulbright Taiwan. Acting credits include Water by the Spoonful, Kokoro (True Heart), and Spitfire Grill at Festival Playhouse.

Aliya Bacal Peterson
(she/her)
Director
Aliya has performed in NCTC YouthAware’s Puppy Mind and The Emperor’s New Post as well as directing the 2024 touring production of Puppy Mind. After graduating from Sonoma State with her BA in acting, she has worked as a Teaching Artist with Marin Theatre Company teaching improv. She can also be found leading paranormal investigations with The Haunt Ghost Tours and dramatically dying as part of a murder mystery with the Dinner Detectives.

Liam Kirk

Stage Manager
Liam is a stage manager born and raised in San Jose, CA. At NCTC he has stage managed the last YouthAware production ‘My Brother’s Gift’ as well as the mainstage shows ‘We Are Continuous,’ ‘Wild With Happy’ and currently ‘To My Girls’. He loves to work on productions made for young audiences because “they are the best kind of audiences.”
